Incident Reporting: Employer Documents & Procedures

Insurance

The internship is a curricular requirement and therefore Creative Industries students participating in unpaid internships in Ontario will receive WSIB coverage through the MTCU. Students who receive honoraria, stipends, and travel allowances in lieu of wages will also be covered by the WSIB through the University.

Students who participate in placements outside of the province or country or with organizations that do not have WSIB coverage will be covered through the ACE-INA.

Recent changes have been implemented to streamline the administration of this program. The only documentation required for coverage is an initial letter of understanding stating the name of the enterprise and the dates and hours the intern will be expected to work. No additional documentation is required unless a WSIB claim is made during the internship.
